New Releases!
“Sparkling Lilli” Chardonnay Brut & Sparkling Riesling.

Winemaker/owner Josef Fleishmann says:  “My wife pushed me into the business by helping me plant our vineyards way back in 1978.  Now 30 years later we’re ready to release our sparkling wines named for her.” Done in the Prosecco style and named after the founding matriarch of the family the wines are Light, bubbly, fun and beautiful!  Sparkling Chardonnay & Sparkling Riesling – grown and made in the family’s vineyards in the Willamette Valley. These wines are light on the tongue with fresh flavors and sparkle.

The sparkling wines are sold in reusable, painted bottles and will be available at the winery tasting room and select retailers.  The goal is to be environmentally sensitive and keep the extra packaging to a minimum.   We’ve taken a unique look at packaging by trying to make it look fresh and inviting- as well as being more environmentally friendly.  “We recently came back from working at a friend’s winery in Germany, where nearly all of his bottles are brought back by customers and reused.  We thought that if we created a painted bottle that can be reused either for more sparkling wine, or as a cool water bottle it would help us all”

On Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 23rd, it’s the 29th Annual Grapestomping Festival @ St Josef’s.  The NW’s original Grapestomping began as the proprietors, wanted to pass on a little bit of the European harvest spirit. Since running a vineyard and winery is a lot of hours and hard work, they believe it is important to start the busy “crush” season off with a lighthearted approach.  It has grown to involve stomping in a 10 foot Oak barrel that holds the equivalent 3,200 bottles of wine, Bavarian music and food in a casual, relaxed European atmosphere.

The Original NW Harvest festival – Owners Josef & Lilli have celebrated the beginning of the wine making season with a traditional grapestomping for nearly 30 years.  Join us with your friends, family and neighbors andmake a thousand new friends as we welcome Klaus & his Donaumusikanten band from Bavaria for the 20th time!

Music, homemade sausage & kraut and lots of good energy and fun.
Noon to 6pm both days.  $10 cover (21+) includes souvenir glass, wine tasting and more…

The Grapestomping began as the proprietors, Josef & Lilli who emigrated from Germany, wanted to pass on a little bit of the harvest spirit to the Pacific Northwest. Since running a vineyard and winery is a lot of hours andhard work, they believe it is important to start the busy “crush” season off with a lighthearted approach.  St Josef’s first began having fun with the Grapestomping by hosting locals andneighbors with a small party and stomping in small wooden tubs. It has grown to involve stomping in a 8 foot tall Oak barrel that holds the equivalent 3,200 bottles of wine, Bavarian music and food in a casual, relaxed European atmosphere.

In addition to Grapestomping contests held throughout each day the ‘Original Donaumusikanten’ a great German Band from Bavaria will be performing from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.  It is their 20th anniversary of headlining festivals across the globe. Don’t worry about diligent training for the stomping – St Josef’s will pick a partner for you’re if you are fortunate enough to get selected.  Lilli’s homemade sauerkraut and 400 lbs of special recipe sausages, along with other locally made European style foods will also be available adding to the flair of the event. The tasting room will be featuring all of the current varietals and selections of reserve wines as well and their first sparkling wine – Lilli Sparkling Chardonnay.  Tours with the winemaker will happen throughout the day.
